Allen C. Dawson is the Director of the International Black Film Festival.
He is a grant writter, fundriser and a 2008 recipient of the Association of Fundrising Professionals
"Maurice Gurinn Memorial Scholarship".


Allen is an honorably discharged veteran that also served as an executive board member
of the NAACP.

He is the first African-American to appear in the ABC (Channel 7) daytime serial “Ryan’s Hope”.
He has appeared with renowned theatre groups like the “Negro Ensemble Company” and in numerous commercials, and films with Laurence Fishburne, Robert Townsend, Natalie Wood, Denzel Washington, Ray Sharkey, Michael Ontkean, Maude Adams, Margot Kidder, Bruce Dern and others.

Allen was formerly the producer of the Acapulco International Jazz Festival.

In addition, to being a finalist in the “Chesterfield Screenwriters Competition” (2002)
Allen currently has two plays in circulation, “A Weekend Pass” and “A Patriot in Brooklyn”.

He attended the University Of Maryland In Europe, Borough Of Manhattan Community College, LaGuardia C.C. Upward Bound Program, Mechanics Institute, and the College of Technology.

And, he is currently pursuing a dual degree at New York University.

Allen is a member of the “Association of Fundraising Professionals” and has risen over $500,000.

In addition, he’s added volunteering for Public Radio (WBGO Jazz 88.3FM), the NYC Dept
of Cultural Affairs (Grant Panelist ’09), and the Association of Fundraising Professionals to a long list of community service.
